Misplays: the rules explained
Throwing from the wrong lie costs one penalty throw if you catch it before throwing again, or two if you don’t. A hole you skipped or missed is scored par plus four.
Rules covered
811. Summaries follow the PDGA Official Rules, 2026 edition.
811Throwing from the wrong lie
Teeing from the wrong pad, throwing from the wrong spot, or playing an OB disc as if it were in bounds is a misplay. If you haven’t thrown again since, ignore that throw, add one penalty throw and replay from the right lie. If you have, carry on from where you are and add two penalty throws.
